PRINTING SPECIFICATIONS & INFORMATION

Our short run printing or hot stamping process is a hand fed, one-at-a-time delicate procedure which is done on pre-made bags and boxes. Printing quality can vary. To insure the best possible printing we recommend that all laminated products and gloss finish surfaces be hot stamped. Avoid logos with fine lines, halftones, and/or reverse printing. Please provide camera-ready black & white art for processing your printing plates. We will also accept your art on disk, CD rom or via e-mail. Use the recommended sizing chart below to determine the appropriate printing areas available and, if needed, standard type fonts. Choose from the ink colors listed below or hot stamping foil colors. Delivery 2-3 weeks after approval of proof, rush service available. Contact customer service.

ELECTRONIC ART SUBMITTAL
Art may be electonically submitted in the following manner:
- We accept files on 3.5" disk, 100 mg zip disk, CD Rom (Mac Format), DVD & via email to art@swalter.com
- When sending your art please reference the Sales Person in charge of your account , your name, the name of your company and a number where you can be reached.
- IMPORTANT FILE FORMAT INFORMATION
We prefer files set up in Illustrator, or compatible program, in vector format. Avoid other programs that were created for publishing purposes or photo touch ups. Be advised that if art is not supplied in Illustrator and/or it needs to be modified, resized or trapped (see note on trapping below), there will be additional art charges for the necessary changes. Our current hourly rate is $88.
- Any of the following program files are accepted:
-Illustrator 10 (PREFERRED FORMAT)
-Freehand 9.0
-Corel Draw files SAVED AS "AI 7.0 " FILE ONLY
-QuarkXPress 5.0
-PageMaker 6.5
-Photoshop 7.0
- Other File Formats Accepted:
-Editable EPS
-Tiff, Jpg and gif (at least 300 dpi at full size)
-SORRY NO .DOC files or other MicroSoft application formats, we cannot open these files
- Artwork including Text should:
-Include font suitcase (Mac or PC) OR, preferably convert all type to outlines/paths/curves
If we are to add text to the art you MUST include the font suitcase (Mac and PC accepted).
- IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!
Any jobs involving screens, half-tones or four color process are subject to art department review and may need changes to be adapted for flexographic printing (which is vastly different from normal 4 color process/offset printing!!!), and will be subject to art charges. Please CALL with questions on these issues.
- TRAPPING INFO
In flexographic printing, adjacent ink colors will overlap slightly. This overlap is called a "TRAP". We recommend a 1/16" MANUAL TRAP. Do not use the automatic trap feature from your program, it does not suit flexographic processes. If you do not know what a trap is, do NOT attempt it. Please allow us to correctly do it for you.
